Awana - Children's Ministry
Children are a major part of the Salem family. We offer children’s church during the worship services on Sunday mornings for children from preschool through third grade. On Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m. we have a children’s program called AWANA (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed) for ages two through fifth grade.
There is a warm-up and rally time, followed by individual classes with Bible study time, games and crafts. AWANA is a Biblically sound program designed to build character and Bible knowledge to capture the hearts of today’s children.
During 2017, Salem's AWANA Club joined Welcome Hill's AWANA club and have been preparing for AWANA GO Verse-A-Thon. Children memorize Scripture and raise money to train and give AWANA to children in Honduras!
We are so proud of our kids for the many verses that were memorized during this year already! It costs $7,500 to train 25 churches in Honduras. Last year we raised $2,300, so they needed $5,200 to train 25 churches. We have now raised $2,400 over that amount, which means that we have already raised some money for more churches to be trained! God is so good!
